Esra Gençtürk

Professor, Rector

Dr. Gençtürk received her BS in Management from the University of Southern California (1981). She earned her MBA (1983) and PhD (1990) in Marketing from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Gençtürk was on the Marketing and International Business Faculty of the University of Texas at Austin (1989-1996) and was a full-time faculty member at Koç University, in the College of Administrative Sciences and Economics (1996-2009).

Dr. Gençtürk's research interests include management of intra and inter-organizational marketing exchanges, as well as information and knowledge flows; foreign market entry and penetration strategies, global marketing strategy formulation and implementation; research design, and measurement considerations. Her research has appeared in journals such as Journal of International Business Studiesthe Journal of International MarketingIndustrial Marketing ManagementJournal of Management Studies.

Dr. Gençtürk teaches courses on marketing strategy, marketing research, international marketing, and global business.

 
 

O. Alpay Filiztekin

Professor, Faculty of Business, Dean and Graduate School of Business, Director

He earned his economics BA degree at Bogazici University in 1989 and he is awarded a PhD in Economics from Boston College in 1994. He worked at Koc University between 1994 and 2000 and became associate professor in 1998. He worked at Sabanci University between 2000 and 2016 and appointed as a professor at the same institution in 2011 where he also served as Vice Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. In 2016 he moved to Ozyegin University. He has several published papers in national and international academic journals on applied economics, productivity, regional development, labor economics and price Dynamics.

Koen H. Pauwels

Professor, Marketing

Koen Pauwels is Professor of Marketing at Özyeğin University, Istanbul, and the most published and awarded researcher on return on marketing investment. Previously at the Tuck School of Business (Dartmouth), he won the 2010 Google/WPP Research Award, the 2011 Syntec Best Paper in Marketing/Decision Sciences Award, the 2001 EMAC Best Paper Award, the 2007 O’Dell Award for the most influential paper in the Journal of Marketing Research, the 2008 and 2009 Emerald Management Reviews Citation of Excellence, the 2009 and 2011 Davidson awards for the best paper in Journal of Retailing, and the 2009 Varadarajan Award for Early Career Contributions to Marketing Strategy Research.

Out of 37,000 UCLA Anderson School of Management graduates, he was chosen as “Top 100 Inspirational Alumnus”.

Koen’s publications appeared in Harvard Business Review, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Brand Management, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Service Research, Marketing Letters, Marketing Science and Management Science.

Prof. Dr. Pauwels authored chapters in 4 books, including the Handbook of Marketing and Finance, and is preparing his own book on metric-driven marketing in emerging channels and markets.

Koen has shared his insights with managers at several companies including Heinz, Kayak, Marks & Spencer, Nissan, Sony, Swarovski and Unilever and with participants in the Return on Marketing Investment seminars at GfK Academy, HEC Geneva, Innsbruck and NYU.

Mehmet Reşat Kayalı

Professor

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Reşat Kayalı will work as a Professor at the Faculty of Business. After receiving his lycee diploma from Robert College in 1965, Kayalı studied economics at Harvard University, obtaining his B.A. degree in 1969. Subsequently, he studied economic history at the University of Pennsylvania and received his M.A. degree in 1970. Then he moved to Boston College to study economics,   receiving an M.A. degree in economics in 1974. Continuing his academic studies in Turkey, he received his Ph.D in economics from Istanbul University in 1976. He joined the faculty of the Department of Economics at Boğaziçi University in 1972, becoming associate professor in 1983 and full professor in 1989, retiring from this university in 2006. Subsequently, he worked at Yeditepe and Ozyegin universities. Primarily, his research interests are the history of economic thought, Post-Keynesian economics and international economics.

Muhittin Oral

Professor, Management

Dr. Oral holds a BS in Industrial Management from Middle East Technical University (1964), an MA in Industrial Administration from Robert College (1967), an MS (1971) and PhD (1972) in Operations Research from Case Institute of Technology. He worked as a researcher at TÜBİTAK (1965-1966) and at the National Coal Board in London 1966-1968). After receiving his PhD, he joined the Department of Operations and Decision Systems at Université Laval (1972-1974). He became the Director of the Operations Research Unit at Marmara Research Institute of TÜBİTAK (1974-1978). He then returned to the same department at Université Laval (1978-1999). In 1996, he became an active member of the “Sabancı University Design” project (1996-1997) and was appointed as the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Management, where he served two terms (1997-2003) and remained at Sabancı University as a Professor of Management until 2010. He has also held positions as a Visiting Scholar at Boğaziçi University (1981-1982), University of Canterbury (1989-1990), and Bilkent University (1996-1997). He has also had research affiliation with the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce since 2005.

Dr. Oral’s past research activities have included inventory management, production planning and scheduling, R&D project management, science policy, mathematical modeling, computational efficiency, multiple-criteria analysis, operational research methodology, and competitiveness analysis for strategy formulation. His current research interests concentrate on research paradigm, reasoning types in the modeling process, meaning management, leadership and wisdom. He has published numerous articles in journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, Operations Management, IIE Transactions, the European Journal of Operational Research, Interface, Computers and Operations Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, the International Journal of Forecasting, the International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Journal of Global Optimization, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, and Industrial Marketing Journal.

Dr. Oral teaches courses on research methodology, managerial statistics, competitiveness analysis and strategy.

Ümit Özlale

Professor, Economics, Head of Economics

After finishing his Ph.D. in Boston College in 2001, Ümit Özlale started his academic career in Bilkent University. He continued his academic studies at TOBB University of Economics and Technology, where he became full professor in 2011. He also served as the founding chair of International Entrepreneurship Department and advisor to the Rector’s Office on project management and international affairs.

Ümit Özlale’s main research fields are applied macroeconomics, monetary policy and fiscal policy. Since 2003, he has worked as consultant to the Central Bank of Republic of Turkey and Ministry of Finance. He also served as senior key expert in various World Bank projects, as an executive committee member of European Association of Development Research Institutes (EADI) and as the director of Training and Research Institute of Public Policy (TRIPP) in TEPAV.

In 2012, Professor Özlale has been awarded with “The Young Investigator Award” by TÜBİTAK, which has been given to outstanding academicians under 40 years old.

Atakan Yalçın

Associate Professor, Finance, Head of International Finance

Dr. Yalçın received his BS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Boğaziçi University (1994), his MBA from Cox School of Management, Southern Methodist University (1996), and his PhD from Carroll School of Management, Boston College (2002). Previously, he has taught at Boston College, Brandeis University, and Koç University. He was the recipient of the Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award at Boston College (2000).

Dr. Yalçın's research interests include asset pricing, firm valuation, optimal portfolio selection, momentum returns, and regulation fair disclosure. His research has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Empirical Finance, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, and Journal of Marketing.

Dr. Yalçın teaches courses on portfolio management, derivative securities, financial modeling, financial management, investment management, options and futures, and managerial finance.

Engin Kara

Associate Professor, Economics

Doç. Dr. Engin Kara will work as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Business. Kara obtained his B.Sc in Economics from Istanbul University in 1997 and M.Sc. in Economics from Warwick University in 1999. He completed his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of York in 2006. His first academic appointment was at the University of Birmingham in 2006, after which he worked at the University of Bristol during 2009-2015. From 2007 to 2009, he worked at the Central Bank of Belgium as a research economist. He has published in top journals in macroeconomics, including the Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking and Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control. His main area of research is macroeconomic theory and monetary policy. Specifically, his research has focused on models of sticky prices, inflation dynamics, and the study of optimal monetary and fiscal policy.

Işıl Erol

Associate Professor, Real Estate Finance

Dr. Işıl Erol received her BS in City and Regional Planning (1998) from Middle East Technical University (METU), her MSc in Economics (2000) from METU, MPhil in Land Economy (2001) from University of Cambridge, and her PhD in Real Estate Finance (2004) from University of Cambridge.

After completing her PhD Erol joined METU, Department of Economics where she taught Theory of Finance, Corporate Finance, Real Estate Economics and Finance, and Option Pricing Models courses. She has also taught at Adelaide University and Boğaziçi University.

From June 2009 to June 2010 Dr. Erol has worked as a consultant for İş Bank on the area of mortgage pricing.

Her areas of speciality are in real estate finance & valuation, residential mortgage markets, mortgage valuation with option pricing models and Real Estate Investment Trusts. Her publications have appeared in the Journal of Housing Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Urban Geography, and Review of Urban and Regional Development Studies.

Kutsal Doğan

Associate Professor, Management Information Systems

Dr. Doğan received a BS in Management Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (1993), an MBA from Virginia Tech (1997) and his PhD in Decision and Information Systems from the University of Florida (2002). He served on the faculty of the School of Management, at the University of Texas at Dallas as an Assistant Professor (2002-2009), where he received the college's Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher of the Year Award (2007).

Dr. Doğan's research interests are in management information systems, economics, and marketing. In management information systems, he is interested in economics of information products and services such as software. His works in marketing promotions mainly deal with second-degree price discrimination and its effects on consumers and competition. He is also interested in behavioral issues in marketing and economics. His articles have appeared in journals such as Information Systems Research, Decision Sciences, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Decision Support Systems, Quantitative Marketing and Economics, and Information Technology and Management. Dr. Doğan also serves on the editorial boards of the Decision Sciences Journal and the International Journal of E-Business Research.

Dr. Doğan teaches courses on management information systems, data mining and business intelligence, and enterprise data and knowledge organization and management.

Mustafa Onur Çağlayan

Associate Professor, Finance, Director of Ph.D. Program

Dr. Çağlayan received his BA in Economics (1996) from Boğaziçi University and his PhD in Economics with a concentration in Finance (2000) from The Graduate Center, at the City University of New York (CUNY). He worked at JPMorgan Chase Bank headquarters in New York as a Vice President in the Foreign Exchange Research group (2000-2006). He also worked as a Portfolio Manager at Millennium Partners Hedge Fund in New York (2006-2008).

Dr. Çağlayan's research interests include investments, hedge funds, portfolio theory and optimization, asset allocation, capital asset pricing models, currency valuation models, macro and monetary economics, time series econometrics, and international economics and finance. His current research focuses on macroeconomic risk and its predictive power on future hedge fund and mutual fund returns. His publications have appeared in the Journal of Financial Economics, Financial Management, Journal of Futures MarketsJournal of Portfolio Management, Journal of Global Optimization, and Brookings-Wharton Papers on Financial Services.

Munir Tolga Akçura

Associate Professor, Marketing

Dr. Akçura received his BS in Industrial Engineering (1990) and his MA in Business Administration (1996) from Boğaziçi University. He obtained his MBA (1998) and his PhD in Industrial Administration (2000) from Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Akçura was a faculty member at Purdue University (2000-2007) and Long Island University (2007-2010). Before joining academia, Dr. Akçura was the European New Product Planning Department Manager (1990-1994) for Procter & Gamble, Europe.

Dr. Akçura has recently been awarded with a Tubitak (National Science Foundation) grant with a focus on social media and branding, and is the initiator of a high-tech start-up project as part of the Start-up Factory@OzU. Dr. Akçura was voted for the Distinguished Teacher Award by the MBA students at Purdue University two years in a row. He received the William W. Cooper Award based on two of his Database Marketing essays. He has also been awarded the Direct Marketing Association Fellowship, the American Marketing Association Consortium Fellowship, and the Andrew Mellon Fellowship. Dr. Akçura's research interests include database marketing, pharmecutical marketing and expert services, the impact of information technology on marketing, learning behavior of consumers and structural choice models, brand equits and its dynamic structure, and competitive strategies behind pricing, brand equity, and private labels. His publications have appeared in journals such as Marketing Science, Management Science, and Decision Support Systems.

Nuran Acur

Associate Professor, Innovation and Operations Strategy

Dr. Acur received her BS in Statistics (1994) from Yıldız Technical University, her MS in Statistics (1996) from Istanbul University, and her PhD in Strategic Management (2001) from the University of Strathclyde. Prior to her appointment as Senior Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde (2008-2011), she worked at Aalborg University (2002-2005) and Bilkent University (2005-2008) as an Assistant Professor of Innovation Management. Dr. Acur also held Visiting Scholar positions at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2003), and at the London Business School (2007-2008).

Dr. Acur has also worked as a business analyst in DAKS-Simpson Ltd. (1998-2000) and quality systems engineer at Worldmark Ltd. (2001-2002). She has conducted research and consulted for service, technology, and entrepreneurial firms. Her research and consulting projects include designing service/technological innovation processes, facilitating operations strategy development, designing customer experience management and service innovation processes, as well as evaluating the entrepreneurship process. She has received Research Council funding to support several projects related to the fields of technology and service innovation. She has also been serving as a board member of EurOMA (The European Operations Management Association) since 2006. Her work has appeared in numerous journals including International Journal of Operations & Production Management, the Journal of Product Innovation Management, Creativity and Innovation Management, and Supply Chain Management: An International Journal.

Dr. Seggie has an MA (1995) in Political Science from the University of Glasgow and an MBA from Sabanci University (2003). He received his PhD with a major in Marketing and a minor in International Business from Michigan State University (2007).
 
His research interests include corporate innovation, business accelerators, scientometrics, interorganizational relationships, distribution channels, and international marketing strategy. He has been the recipient of several awards including the Article of the Year Award from the International Marketing Review (2009) and the Stanley C. Ulaş Özen

Ahmet Murat Fiş

Dr. Fiş received his BA in Business Administration from Boğaziçi University (1993), MBA from Oklahoma State University (1995), and his PhD in Management from Sabancı University (2009).

Dr. Fiş’s interdisciplinary research interests include entrepreneurship, the effects of organizational culture on various organizational phenomenon and strategic orientations and the firm-wide outcomes of these strategic orientations. His recent research focuses on corporate entrepreneurship in particular, as he aims to reveal the underlying factors behind firm-level entrepreneurship and its outcomes. Dr. Fiş has also been serving as Assessor and/or Chief Assessor for the Turkish National Quality Award since 1999.

Ata Can Bertay

Assistant Professor, Banking and Finance

Dr. Bertay received his BA in Economics from Boğaziçi University (2008). He received his MSc (2010), and his PhD in Economics (2014) from Tilburg University. From 2010 to 2012, Dr. Bertay worked at the World Bank as a consultant in the research group. He also visited the New York University, Stern School of Business as a visiting scholar in 2013.

Bahriye Cesaret

Assistant Professor, Operations Management

Dr. Bahriye Cesaret works as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business. Dr. Cesaret received her B.S. in Industrial Engineering (2008) from Istanbul Technical University, and M.S. in Industrial Engineering (2010) from Koç University.  In 2010, she joined the Ph.D. program in Management Science (with a concentration in Operations Management) at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). During her pursuit of Ph.D., she earned an M.B.A. (2013) and an M.S. degree in Supply Chain Management (2013) from UTD.  She completed her Ph.D. in Management Science (2015) at the University of Texas at Dallas. At UTD, she taught the undergraduate core courses in Operations Management in the spring semesters of 2014 and 2015, and Managerial Decision Making under Uncertainty in the summer semester of 2015.  She received an ‘Outstanding Student Teacher Award’ from the Naveen Jindal School of Management for the academic year 2013-2014. Her current research lies in the domain of Behavioral Operations Management—a research stream which aims to investigate the interaction of human behavior and operational systems and processes—focusing on (i) pricing & revenue management, and (ii) supply chain management.

Begüm Güney

Assistant Professor, Economics

Dr. Güney holds a B.S. degree with high honors in mathematics from Middle East Technical University (2005). She received her M.A. (2008) and Ph.D. (2011) in economics from New York University (NYU) where she was awarded the Henry MacCracken Fellowship.
 
Dr. Güney’s research interests focus on decision theory, experimental economics, and behavioral economics. She develops and tests choice procedures to explain anomalies observed in behavioral studies. She is also interested in applying these theories to problems in other areas such as game theory and marketing. Berrak Bahadır

Assistant Professor, Economics

Dr. Berrak Bahadır received her bachelor’s degree from Marmara University Business Administration Department in 2001, M.A. in Economics from Marmara University in 2004, and Ph.D. in Economics from Emory University in 2008.

After completing her Ph.D., Dr.Bahadır worked as assistant professor of economics at University of Richmond Robin School of Business between 2008-2010 and at the University of Georgia Terry School of Business between 2010-2014 where she taught macroeconomics courses at undergraduate and graduate programs. Dr.Bahadır’s research focuses on the macroeconomic consequences of credit expansions. Her research is published in journals such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Macroeconomics and Economic Inquıry.

Bige Saatçioğlu

Assistant Professor, Marketing

Dr. Saatçioğlu received her BA in Communications from University of Istanbul (1996), her MBA in Marketing and Sales Management from Rochester Institute of Technology (2000), and her Ph.D. in Marketing from Virginia Tech (2009). Prior to joining Ozyegin University, Dr. Saatçioğlu was a faculty member at HEC Paris between 2009 and 2013.
 
Dr. Saatçioğlu’s research interests include theoretical and methodological issues in critical and transformative consumer research, consumer culture theory, and social problems and public policy implications. Biliana Güner

Yardımcı Doçent, İstatistik ve Ekonometri

Dr. Güner, lisans derecesini 1999 yılında Sofya Üniversitesi’nde Ekonomi üzerine, yüksek lisans derecesini 2000 yılında Warwick Business School’da Ekonomi ve Finans üzerine tamamladı. 2007 yılında University of California’dan İstatistik doktorasını almaya hak kazandı. Doktora çalışmaları sırasında Deneysel Finans üzerinde uzmanlaştı. OSI/FCO/Chevening ve Fullbright Bursları ile ödüllendirildi. Doktorasını tamamladıktan sonra, Dr. Güner, Amerika’da yeni kurulan bir serbest fonda (hedge fon) algoritmik işlem stratejileri üzerine çalıştı ve Yeditepe Üniversitesi’nde finans alanında yardımcı doçent olarak görev yaptı.

Dr. Güner’in araştırma ilgi alanları arasında pazar riski yönetimi,  yatırım yönetimi, kalın kuyruklu finansal modelleme, ekonometri, ve finansta Bayes yöntemleri yer alır.  Dr. Güner’in aynı zamanda finans alanında Bayes yöntemleri üzerine eş-yazarlığını üstlendiği bir de kitabı bulunmaktadır. Dr. Güner’in çalışmaları, Spinger, Risk Books ve Wiley tarafından yayınlanan kitapçıklarda yer almıştır. Dr. Güner, son araştırma projelerinde, serbest fon kaldıraçları ve bunların finansal performansla ilişkileri ile serbest fonların çeşitli özellikleri üzerine yoğunlaşmaktadır.

Cem Bahadır

Assistant Professor, Marketing

Dr. S. Cem Bahadır received his B.Sc. from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Industrial Engineering in 1999, M.Sc. in Engineering Management from Marmara University, Department of Industrial Engineering in 2002, and Ph.D. in Business Administration – Marketing from Emory University in 2007.

After completing his Ph.D., Dr.Bahadır worked as assistant professor of marketing at the University of South Carolina, Darla Moore School of Business where he taught principles of marketing, marketing management, and product and brand management courses at undergraduate and graduate programs.

In 2012, based on the course he taught in the PMBA program, he received the ‘Outstanding Elective Professor’ award. Dr.Bahadır’s research focuses on strategic brand management, brand value, and global brand management. His research is published in journals such as Journal of Marketing, International Journal of Research in Marketing ve Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.

Emre Soyer

Assistant Professor, Judgement and Decision Making

Dr. Soyer received his PhD in Judgment and Decision Making from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2012), MSc Economics from in Universitat   Pompeu Fabra (2007) and University of Nottingham (2005), and his BA in Economics from Koç University (2004; visiting Universita Bocconi in 2003).
 
He teaches and consults on decision making, persuasion, motivation and creativity. He gives courses in MBA, EMBA, MA in Entrepreneurship, MSc in Financial Engineering and undergraduate Business Administration programs, takes part in firm-specific trainings, sectoral certificate modules and entrepreneurial initiatives.
 
Dr. Soyer has written for Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review, and has a TEDx talk on the role of experience in decision making. He publishes a monthly behavioral science blog in Harvard Business Review – Turkey. He conducts his academic research in applied psychology and behavioral science. His articles have appeared in scholarly journals, including Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, International Journal of Forecasting, Judgment and Decision Making, and Journal of Business Research.

Erik den Hartigh

Assistant Professor, Strategy and Management

Dr. den Hartigh received his MS in Business Economics (1995) and his PhD in Economics (2005) from the School of Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Technology, Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Delft University of Technology (2003-2008).

His research interests are in corporate strategy, innovation, and business networks. Since 1998 he has been a part time consultant at TVA Developments, a small think tank assisting pivotal companies and government institutions with complex strategic issues.

Dr. den Hartigh teaches courses on general management, corporate strategy, technology and strategy, project management, and innovation systems.

Erkan Yönder

Assistant Professor, Finance and Real Estate

Dr. Yönder completed BS degree in 2004 and MS degree in 2007 in Economics at Middle East Technical University. He received his PhD degree in Finance and Real Estate at Maastricht University in 2013. He also visited the Center for Real Estate, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as a visiting PhD student in 2012.
 
Dr. Yönder’s main research interests consist of securitized real estate (REITs), corporate finance, behavioral finance, green buildings and corporate sustainability. He has written several papers, some of which have been accepted for publication by the academic journals such as the Journal of International Money and Finance and the Real Estate Economics. Additionally, Dr. Yönder has a book chapter published by the University of Pennsylvania Press.  His research has been recognized and funded by research institutions such as the Real Estate Research Institute (RERI) and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
 
Dr. Yönder teaches courses at BS and MS levels on corporate finance, real estate finance, banking and business valuation.

Eylem Koca

Assistant Professor, Operations Management

Dr. Eylem Koca will work as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business. Prior to joining Özyeğin University, he worked at Fairleigh Dickinson University and at the University of Maryland. He received his Ph.D. in Operations Management in 2011 from University of Maryland. Dr. Koca holds an M.S. in Industrial Engineering and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, both from Boğaziçi University. Dr. Koca’s research is in closed-loop supply chains, operations/marketing interface, sustainable operations and supply chain management, and new product development. He has published in scholarly journals such as Production and Operations Management, and Decision Sciences. Dr. Koca has taught graduate and undergraduate courses on Managerial Statistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, and Project Management. He recently developed and initiated the M.S. in Supply Chain Management program at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Işıl Yavuz

Assistant Professor, Entrepreneurship and International Strategy

Dr. Yavuz received her BS in Business Administration (2002) and an MS in Social Psychology (2005) from Middle East Technical University. She received her PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Minnesota (2011). Dr. Yavuz's doctoral thesis was awarded a KFS Best Dissertation Award, Kaufmann Dissertation Fellowship Award, and Carlson School Doris McNamara's Women Dissertation Fellowship Award.

Dr. Yavuz's research investigates the early internationalization and performance of high technology new ventures, high technology entrepreneurship in emerging economies, and new business creation in high technology industries. Dr. Yavuz's work has been published in Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice and the Journal of Business Venturing.

Dr. Yavuz teaches courses on entrepreneurship, international business, and international strategy.

Mehmet Ali Soytaş

Assistant Professor, Economics

Dr. Soytaş holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Boğazici University (2001) and an MA in Economics from Marmara University (2005). He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh (2011). Dr. Soytas worked as a graduate research assistant in the Center for Industry Studies at the University of Pittsburgh (2011), and as a consultant for World Bank's Ankara Office (2012).

Dr. Soytaş's research areas include the fields of econometrics, labor economics, and applied microeconomics. His current empirical focus is mainly on the persistence of income across generations, intergenerational aspects of lifecycle decisions, and effects of parental investment in children within an intergenerational context.
