EAQUALS Accreditation

Established with the mission of developing Turkey’s best Academic English Program, the School of Languages (ScOLa) at Özyeğin University has been accredited for a second time for “Excellence in Language Education” by EAQUALS (Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality Language Services), an internationally recognized accreditation body based in Europe. Following an inspection which took place from December 7 through December 9, ScOLa’s accreditation has been re-confirmed until June 30, 2024. Awarded with the EAQUALS accreditation for all three of its programs (English Preparatory Program, Undergraduate English Program, and Modern Languages Program), the School also achieved a remarkable success by receiving 'points of excellence' in 12 designated areas. Thus, Özyeğin University has become the first university from Turkey to receive the Eaquals accreditation for a second time.

During the visit by the Eaquals inspectors from December 7 to 9, Özyeğin University School of Languages was found to be above the standards and honored with excellence in the areas of Management and Administration, Quality Assurance, Communication with Staff, Communication with Students and Other Stakeholders, Course Design and Supporting Systems, Teaching and Learning, Assessment and Certification, Academic Resources, Student Services, Staff Profile and Development, Staff Employment Terms, and Learning Environment.

Eaquals awards accreditation to language schools through an extensive and multidimensional evaluation process to foster excellence in language education across the world. Founded in 1991, Eaquals presently advises the Council of Europe on language policy issues and works with numerous leading international institutions in language education. Furthermore, Eaquals conducts research and provides extensive consultancy and training services in areas such as curriculum development, assessment, teacher development and academic management. The member institutions of Eaquals operate in over 30 countries worldwide and Eaquals-accredited centers teach more than 25 different languages.
