International Spread Activities of ÖzÜ TTO
ÖzÜ TTO has been selected to attend the Cambridge University Training Course

Cambridge Enterprise will organize 2-weeks training entitled “A Capacity Building Programme in Intellectual Property (IP) Commercialisation for Senior Decision Makers of Technology Transfer Offices (TTO) in Turkish Universities" which is funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) through the UK Prosperity Fund between 23th of November and 1st of December in Cambridge, UK. This programme builds on the UK-Turkey Year of Science and Innovation 2015-16 Practical Workshop on IP Commercialisation held in Turkey in 2015.
After the selection period which was run by Cambridge Enterprise and FCO, ÖzÜ TTO was one of the 15 TTOs among the many applicants who succeeded to attend the Cambridge University Training Course which will be held in London. Within the scope of this program, the subjects for discussion will be IP matters, the funding of start-ups and the ecosystem needed to support successful innovation. Following the Cambridge programme, there will be a support for delegates through personal mentoring as they implement what they have learned during the course. There will be also a final workshop in Istanbul in 2017.
By participating in this two-week training program, ÖzÜ TTO will enhance its knowledge on IP commercialization and international spread activities
ÖzÜ TTO has been selected to have received the Capacity Building Support from PROGRESS-TT
ÖzÜ TTO has been selected to receive capacity building support within the scope of PROGRESS-TT Project which is funded by the European Commission under HORIZON 2020 Program.
PROGRESS-TT – Public Research Organisation GRowing Europe through best practice SolutionS for Technology Transfer is a 3-year pilot initiative and has been coordinated by PERA Consulting. The network will give mentorship up to 30 TTOs all around Europe in 2016 and 2017 with the aim of increasing their capacity to attract more finance for commercialization of research results. PROGRESS-TT consortium is consisted of international well-known institutions such as, MITO Technology, MOEZ-Fraunhofer, UNIBO, KIM, ASTP-Proton, DSM Nutritional Products Ltd., Philips International B.V., VTT Ventures OY, and aims to give mentorship to TTOs having high potential in technology transfer and to increase their capacity and productivity to reach their future goals.
In January 2016, ÖzÜ TTO applied for the PROGRESS-TT Capacity Building Call and succeeded to become one of the 15 TTOs chosen to receive intensive support in scope of the Project. There are four TTOs selected from Turkey (Özyeğin Univeristy, Koç University, Akdeniz University and Ege University TTO). Individual experts have been assigned to each TTO to define TTO’s needs and organize seminar, training camp and wokshop in accordance to the action plans.
The kick-off meeting of the support program was held on June 1, 2016, in Milan, Italy. During the meeting, TTOs had chance to discuss their needs and possible road maps with their mentors. ÖzÜ’s mentor, Jon Wulff Petersen, had his first visit to ÖzÜ on August 18-19, and the second one on October 4, 2016. During the visit, ÖzÜ’s PROGRESS-TT action plan was finalized and a seminar entitled as“Optimizing Invention Disclosures” was organized.
