Incoming Students from Global Exchange Programs

Welcome to Özyeğin University's exchange student web page. If you are interested in spending your exchange semester or year at Özyeğin, you should first contact your home institution’s International Office or exchange coordinator to learn if there is a bilateral exchange agreement between your institution and OzU. Exchange students from partner institutions pay their regular tuition fees at the home institution and do not pay any tuition at Özyeğin University.

If there is not an existing exchange agreement, you can still apply as a free mover for visiting student status. Visiting students pay the regular semester based tuition fee of Özyeğin University.

When applying within a framework of exchange agreement from a partner institution, you should complete the internal selection and placement procedure at your institution and then ask your International Office or exchange coordinator to nominate you to exchange at Özyeğin. After that you can proceed with the Online Application.

As part of the online application, you will complete your tentative course selection, upload your Transcript of Records, and will be able to create your Learning Agreement.

In your online application, you will need to create and upload these documents:
  1. Online application
  1. Proof of English language proficiency if not a native speaker. We expect the level of TOEFL 80 (IBT) or equivalent. Certification of proficiency signed by your home institution is accepted. Students applying from partner institutions teaching fully in English do not need to submit a proof of language proficiency
  2. Copy of the passport (pages that have the passport number, personal information and validity/expiration date)
  3. Passport sized photos
  4. Copy of your transcript
All exchange students must have a valid health insurance coverage for the duration of their academic stay. Travel health insurance policies must meet the foreigners' bureau standards to acquire a residence permit. You may obtain a policy before departure in line with the below mentioned standards. Your policy must be an original document in English or Turkish. All other policies in different languages must be officially translated into Turkish. Photocopies, fax, and scanned copies may not be accepted. Please note that the below mentioned min. standards may not meet your health related needs completely. For this reason, you are highly advised to consider alternatives that also include the min. standards based on your personal needs and circumstances for the duration of your stay.

You will also be provided with further practical information about residence permit applications, on campus housing reservations, and the orientation program approximately one month after the application deadline.

You must contact and check with the nearest Turkish Embassy/Consulate whether you must procure a study visa or not. Please contact the OzU International Office and request a formal acceptance letter if you will apply for a study visa.

Özyeğin University residence halls offer a modern, comfortable, living environment as well as facilities and services to
ensure an efficient study atmosphere. International students are given priority in housing assignments; however, students should not forget to send in their housing applications by the housing application deadline. School shuttle buses provide transportation between the campus and city center locations.

Once you finalize your arrival details, please fill out the arrival sheet , and send it to us. Each semester, we arrange an airport pick up service for students who arrive on the official arrival date. Please make sure that you arrange your itinerary accordingly. On a side note, there are two International Airports; Atatürk International on the European side and Sabiha Gökçen Airport on the Asian side. If you commute from the airport to our campus on your own, you can find directions using this map.

In the beginning of each semester, International Office organizes an Orientation Program for incoming exchange students. We strongly recommend your participation, as it helps you to find your way around the university and Istanbul. As part of the orientation, the International Office will also assist incoming exchange students in procuring the Residence Permits.

The course registration will take place in the beginning of each semester and there is a ''two - week Add/Drop period" where students can select their courses. At the end of the Add/Drop period, exchange students are expected to conclude their schedules and  finalize their learning agreements signed by both the home and host institution program coordinators.

Students accepted to Özyeğin University under the exchange agreements are considered Özyeğin students for the period of enrollment, and have the same rights and privileges as Özyeğin students while also subject to academic and administrative rules as applied to Özyeğin students.

Özyeğin University issues Transcripts automatically to all incoming  exchange students. We will send  copies to the home institution. We use the ECTS credit system but our grading system is standard American letter grade. In most cases, ECTS credits and American credits can be compared in a following manner:
