Mr. Tolga Önder graduated from TED Ankara College. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the Middle East Technical University (METU). In his senior year, he took his first step into the academia. He took the “Practical Training in Economics” course and later started to teach junior students problem solving courses in Econometrics. He worked as a research assistant at the Louisiana State University in the US for two years and obtained his Master’s Degree in 1998. During his graduate studies, he made valuable contributions to his professors’ research projects. Furthermore, just like in METU, he continued to teach undergrads problem solving courses. Later he returned to Turkey to join the private sector. In late 1999, he joined the founding Finance team at DIGITURK where he served in internal audit, budget and reporting, and treasury departments. Aside from cash management, he took an active part in due diligence analysis and all phases of international consortium loans. In 2004, he was appointed as the Finance Director at Lig TV, a newly established subsidiary of Digiturk. In 2007, he took up the Finance Director position at Turkkule, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Turkcell. He joined Özyeğin University in September 2007 as the founding Finance Director. He played a key role in building the University’s institutional infrastructure and all workflows.
Aside from his role as the CFO, he also served as a member of the panel of judges in a Goldman Sachs project launched to empower women entrepreneurs. Presently, Mr. Önder is also a member of the executive board of ÖZÜNDE GİRİŞİM AŞ, which is founded under Hüsnü Özyeğin Foundation to support entrepreneurs and researchers, as well as the Supervisory Management Council of Le Cordon Bleu at Özyeğin University.
Mr. Önder started to serve as Secretary General as of April 1, 2016.
