Prof. Dr. H. Fatih Uğurdağ Elected as Chair of IEEE Turkey Section
Prof. Dr. H. Fatih Uğurdağ has been elected as the Chair of Turkey Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). IEEE is a non-profit international association advancing innovation and technological excellence in the field of electrical and electronics engineering. Today, there are more than 423,000 IEEE members in more than 160 countries. Previously, Prof. Dr. Uğurdağ also served as the Chair of IEEE Computer Society Turkey. As the Chair of IEEE Computer Society Turkey, he played a key role in bringing distinguished scientists to Turkey as invited speakers and was pivotal in encouraging computer/software engineering clubs at universities to join the IEEE Computer Society.
The elections took place early January. Garnering 54 percent of the votes cast, Prof. Dr. H. Fatih Uğurdağ was elected to serve as the Chair of IEEE Turkey Section for two years. During his term in the office, Prof. Dr. Uğurdağ aims to diversify and increase the activities of IEEE Turkey, while laying the foundations to offer qualified pre-university education in programming.
Prof. Dr. H. Fatih Uğurdağ took over this position from Prof. Dr. Murat Uysal, our Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department Chair, who was elected as the Chair of IEEE Turkey Section for two consecutive terms.
