Dr. İsmail Arı Appointed as Acting Vice President at TÜBİTAK

Dr. İsmail Arı, a faculty member at our Computer Science Department, has been assigned as the Acting Vice President at TÜBİTAK.  Dr. İsmail Arı had been serving as the Assistant General Manager at Teknopark, Istanbul since 2013. In his new position at TÜBİTAK, Dr. İsmail Arı will also be in charge of the Technology and Innovation Funding Programs”.

Dr. Arı’s research interests at Özyeğin University extends from cloud computing and big data systems to data mining models and databases. He has published numerous international articles and holds several patents in his areas of specialization. Dr. Arı joined our University in 2009. To date, Dr. Arı’s achievements have been recognized by numerous awards including the IBM Top Faculty Contributor Award, EU-FP7 Marie Curie International Reintegration Grant (IRG), TÜBİTAK (Turkish NSF) Young Researcher Career Award, and Rector’s Special Award by Özyeğin University. Dr. Arı is also the founder of Turkey’s first big data start-up, Havooz Ltd, which he established in 2011.
