OzU Faculty Honored with Gold Medal in China and Turkey

Dr. Zeynep Başaran Bundur, a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at Özyeğin University, and Dr. Sevil Yazıcı, a faculty member in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Özyeğin University, were honored with gold medals during the 10th International Exhibition of Inventions (IEI) and 3rd World Invention and Innovation Forum (WIIF) organized by the China Association of Inventions (CAI) in Foshan, China between September 13 and September 15, 2018 in recognition of their patent-pending inventions whose rights are owned by Özyeğin University.

This year’s event was held under the theme of “Inventions Make Dreams Come True, Innovation Leads the Trends for Tomorrow”. IEI & WIIF 2018 showcased around 4,000 inventions from 61 countries, and awarded 300 medals in different categories. Dr. Zeynep Başaran Bundur and  Dr. Sevil Yazıcı were awarded gold medals in recognition of their inventions “Cement-Based Compositions with Improved Rheological Properties and Methods for Production Thereof” and “Design and Manufacturing Method for a Building System in Regards to Structural and Environmental Factors”, respectively. Our faculty members received their gold medals from Dr. Zengpei Xuan, Secretary General at the China Association of Inventions and a member of the panel of judges in China, during the 3rd Istanbul International Invention Fair between September 27 and September 29, 1018.

Another Gold Medal from ISIF

The Istanbul International Inventions Fair (ISIF 2018) took place in the Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center between September 27 and 29, 2018. The event was hosted by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office under the honorary auspices of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, and the auspices of the International Federation of Inventors Associations, and Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT). ISIF 2018 showcased over 400 business ideas from 20 countries and brought together national and international individual inventors, R&D centers, manufacturers and commercial firms, industrialists, entrepreneurs, patent offices, development agencies, representatives of technology development regions, technology transfer offices, angel investors, and patent attorneys. ISIF 2018 was held with the goal of bringing together inventions, and R&D and innovative projects with national and international participants to contribute to the commercialization of existing technical knowledge at the service of society. Özyeğin University was represented with 5 inventions during ISIF 2018. Dr. Sevil Yazıcı, a faculty member in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Özyeğin University, was honored with a gold medal in recognition of her invention "Design and Manufacturing Method for a Building System in Regards to Structural and  Environmental Factors" during an award ceremony held on the final day of ISIF 2018.
