Qalifying Exam, Thesis Proposal and Thesis Monitoring Exams

QUALIFYING EXAMINATION

Doctoral students who complete all of their course and seminar requirements must pass a qualifying examination. The qualifying examination is administered in order to establish whether the student possesses the required breadth and depth of scientific research pertaining to fundamental topics and concepts as well as his/her doctoral studies in the respective field.

Students are responsible for all the topics covered in their programs during their doctoral qualifying exams. It is important and necessary that students proceed in consultation with their thesis advisors.

 THESIS PROPOSAL

Thesis proposal covers the doctoral research purpose, method, and work plan.

Thesis report must be submitted at least 15 days before the oral thesis defense. However, there is not any format restriction for the thesis report. It is important and necessary that students consult their thesis advisors about their thesis proposals and thesis reports.

THESIS MONITORING

In their thesis monitoring reports, students summarize the works they have completed until that date and their planned work schedules for the following semester. The report must be submitted to the committee members at least one month before each thesis monitoring meeting. However, there is not any format restriction for the report. It is important and necessary that students proceed in consultation with their thesis advisors.
