Born in Istanbul in 1970, Prof. Dr. B. Aykut ARIKAN, after graduating from high school (German Abitur Diploma) at the German Grammar School in Istanbul (1990), completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in Documentation and Information at Istanbul University. Arıkan, who received his Ph.D. in Information and Documentation Analysis in 2005 on the topic of "Language Problems in Information Retrieval", started his first research project in 2007 entitled "Computer Aided Turkish-Based Media Content Analysis System" supported by TÜBİTAK' (1001, scientific and technological research projects funding program). Arıkan habilitated in communication sciences in 2011 to become Associate Professor. He is also Deputy Dean of the Turkish-German University's Culture and Social Sciences Faculty and the Chairperson of the Culture and Communication Sciences Department in the same faculty. Prof. Dr. B. Aykut ARIKAN is married and has one daughter.
