Meriç Kara was born in Izmir, Turkey in 1977. She studied Industrial Design in METU, after her degree she completed her masters in Milan in Domus Academy with distinction in 2002. Later between 2003-2005 she took place in the design department of Fabrica, the Research and Communication Center of Benetton.
Since 2002, she took part in various exhibitions and publications worldwide. In 2007, she was named among the world’s most exciting young product designers in “&fork” by Phaidon Publications. She was nominated with four awards from the Graphic Society in Turkey with her team in 2008. The same year she participated in “Come to My place” exhibition of the Design Biennial in Amsterdam. She was selected as the “young designer of the year” of Turkey by Elle Decor International Design Awards with her first solo exhibition in 2010. The same year she started as a part time instructor in various Universities. Between 2011-2013 she was the design editor of Size Magazine. In 2012, she received the “good design” award from Design Turkey with her project 'DIGIT' cake moulds she designed for Suck UK.
