Tuition Waivers for Children of Fallen Soldiers of the Turkish Armed Forces

Özyeğin University awards additional tuition waivers at the rate of 20 percent to children of fallen soldiers. To be eligible, students must be placed in the undergraduate programs of Ozyegin University with partial or no scholarships, ranking among the top 20,000 students in their respective programs based on their university entrance examination (LYS and YGS) scores. Eligible students are expected to present necessary documents that testify to their status as children of fallen soldiers.

Support Scholarships for Graduate Studies

Özyeğin University awards non-refundable support scholarships of USD 40,000  to its graduates who are admitted without scholarships to doctoral programs at the top 20 universities listed in the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Rankings in the year of their graduation. In order to be eligible for support scholarships for graduate studies, applicants must have been placed in OzU ranking among the top 2,000 in the score type of the undergraduate programs in which they were placed based on their university entrance examination (LYS and YGS) scores, and graduated from Özyeğin University with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.65 out of 4.00. The support scholarship is granted only for the first year of their programs.

Term and Continuity of Admission Scholarships

Admission scholarships and additional scholarship are non-refundable and are awarded for a maximum of six academic years; to be distributed for a maximum of two years in the English Language Preparatory Program and a maximum of five years in undergraduate level. Transferred semesters, if any, are deducted from the total term of scholarship for undergraduate programs. In the case of vertical transfer students, the term of scholarship is a maximum of two years for the English Preparatory Program, and the regular period of study plus an additional year for the undergraduate program. For transfer students, the regular period of study is the remaining period of study the student needs to complete, which is calculated after the credit and grade transfer is completed.

Students will lose their scholarships if they fail to renew their registration and/or interrupt their undergraduate studies without the approval of the University, or if they  renew their registration but fail to attend classes, and/or if they exceed their maximum period of time allowed to maintain their scholarships.  Should students be subject to any disciplinary action, scholarships can be terminated according to the respective Senate decision.

Admission scholarships are not merit-based and will continue to be awarded regardless of students’ academic standing.  However, students must achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 out of 4.00 at the end of each academic year in order to be eligible to sustain their additional scholarships, including cash stipends, housing, dining, and/or transportation scholarships. Failure to do so will result in the loss of additional scholarships in the subsequent semester. However, additional scholarships may be reinstated if students succeed in meeting the requirements again.

Additional scholarships including cash stipends, housing and/or transportation support are awarded in the semesters in which the students duly renew their registrations and regularly attend their courses. The additional scholarship of students who have taken leaves of absence or received the status of “external preparatory students for TRACE”  are suspended during the respective semesters in which they no longer attend the University. The scholarship of these students will be reinstated once they renew their registration and resume their studies at the University.

Students who fail to complete the English Preparatory Program by the end of their second academic year lose their previously granted scholarships and their enrollment at the University is terminated. Students who exercise their right to sit the TRACE examinations as per Article 44 of Law No:2547 and prove their English proficiency may matriculate to their undergraduate programs. These students are required to pay the tuition fee applicable to newly admitted students in the year of their re-admission to the University, provided that they never received the status of unregistered student during the periods in which they previously studied at the University. The tuition waivers awarded to such students at their first admission to the University are reinstated, excluding cash stipends, dining, housing, and/or transportation support, if any. On the other hand, among students who exercised their right to sit the TRACE examination and matriculated to their undergraduate programs, those who previously received the status of unregistered student during the periods they previously studied at the University must pay the tuition fee applicable to newly admitted students with no scholarship.
