Time to Act Together for the Future of Our Planet - We Support the Earth Hour Movement!

This Year, Earth Hour is Unity Hour!

Earth Hour is a movement organized by the WFF since 2017 to draw attention to global environmental issues, in particular climate change. The event is celebrated worldwide annually with turning off lights for one hour, as a global testimony of our sensitivity to environmental issues.  

Over the past years, organizations were supporting this movement by turning off their lights. We had also taken part in supporting this cause by turning off the lights in specific locations on our campus. However, as we moved to remote instruction and remote working due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please be advised that, this year, we will not be turning off the lights on campus in order not to risk the health of our colleagues on duty.  That said, this will not stop us from supporting the movement. The ongoing pandemic has once again strikingly proven the importance of acting together. We need to act in unison and create synergy for the future of our planet. / The same unity and synergy are also much needed for the future of our planet.

Due to social distance, interested employees and students may support the Earth Hour movement individually by turning off the lightsat home / in their current locations from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 28, 2020. Also, they may register for the movement via dunyasaati.organd share posts with the #DünyaSaati (EarthHour) hashtag in the evening of March 28,2020 to create a virtual wave for “A New Beginning for Nature and Humanity”.
