“Tomurcuk” (Bud) Returns Home with An Award

The “Edible Design Contest”, the first event of the AURA Prism series organized by the AURA Alumni, graduates of the AURA Istanbul Certificate Program, has been concluded. The contest aims to explore food with a focus on the concepts of architecture, design and art, and use it as a design tool. During the contest, our junior Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program student Ömer Faruk’s project “Tomurcuk” (Bud) was awarded an Honorable Mention Award. The challenge welcomed applicants from different ages and professions. Placing a special emphasis on how well design elements and methods are incorporated in food production, judges evaluated proposed recipes across a wide range of evaluation criteria, including creative and original approach, context- form relationship, presentation and aesthetics, material selection, edibility, and recipe reproducibility and replicability.
