“We're Disposing of What We Consume!” Event

Dear Members of the OzU Community,

We are pleased to invite you to join our recurring event “We're Disposing of What We Consume”, organized within the scope of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and our Zero Waste Management System established in line with the Zero Waste Project initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.

By joining this event, you will have the opportunity to learn about Özyeğin University’s Waste Management processes and take part in the campus clean-up to help maintain our beautiful University environment.

The event includes a 30-minute seminar, followed by a campus clean-up walk, where participants will help collect waste to keep our campus clean and litter-free.

Designed to raise awareness of sustainability, this event is held within the scope of the TRL202/204 Responsible Citizenship and TRL102/104 Personal Development courses.  Organized jointly by the OzU Cares Volunteer Program and the HSE Community, the event is supported by the Office of Social Change Volunteers, the Sustainability & QHSE Department, and the OLTE Department.

We encourage all OzU members to participate in the event to contribute to environmental sustainability.

The primary objectives of the event are:

  • To provide information about OzU’s waste management processes.
  • To raise your awareness of recycling and foster sensitivity towards environmental pollution.
  • To contribute to a clean and healthy environment by collaborating with cleaning staff to collect waste on campus.
  • To enable students empathize with cleaning staff to understand the challenges of cleaning operations.
  • To prioritize existing issues and find solutions in response to your feedback.

At the conclusion of the event, we will offset out carbon footprint to minimize our environmental impact. To that end, the event’s carbon footprint will be calculated, and with the support of Commited, contributions will be made to renewable energy or other environmentally friendly projects.

Before attending the event, we kindly request that you calculate your individual carbon footprint by clicking on this link.
