“Kıyı” Project by Özyeğin University Students Showcased at Milan Design Week 2026

“Kıyı,” an interdisciplinary project created by students from the Industrial Design Department and the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department at Özyeğin University, was exhibited at Milan Design Week 2026 from April 16 to April 26.

During the Fall 2024–2025 semester, Özyeğin University students developed a range of interdisciplinary projects as part of the IDE 301–302 Design Studio III–IV course, led by Prof. Şebnem Timur, Dr. Emrah Özturan, and Dr. Pelin Günay from the Industrial Design Department, under the academic mentorship of Prof. Özge Samancı from the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department. Among the student projects produced within the studio, “Kıyı” was selected for inclusion in the international exhibition program.

Created in partnership with porcelain manufacturer Bonna, “Kıyı” reimagines the contemporary fine dining experience, drawing inspiration from rituals deeply rooted in Turkish culinary heritage. Conceiving the table as a landscape, students designed and prototyped porcelain tableware pieces that seamlessly blend functional, sensory, and interactive elements.

Presented at Fabbrica del Vapore, the project was featured in INTERDEPENDENCE 2026, an international exhibition bringing together the work of Politecnico di Milano and 50 design universities from around the world.
