Student Representation
At Özyeğin University, student representation is embedded at every level of university governance — from department boards to the highest decision-making bodies of the institution.
Representation in the Highest Governance Bodies
Most significantly, students hold a seat in the University Senate, which is the highest academic governance body at ÖzU. This ensures that the student voice is present not only in operational and advisory committees, but at the level where key academic and institutional decisions are made. Additionally, student representatives are permanent members of the Quality Commission, ÖzU's central quality assurance body, through which students actively contribute to the university's self-evaluation and continuous improvement processes. The Student Council presents student feedback directly to the Quality Commission through formal presentations, ensuring that student perspectives shape institutional decisions.
Representation in Faculty and Department Boards
All faculties periodically invite students to department and/or faculty boards. Faculty students are included in department boards as a standard practice, giving them a direct voice in academic matters at the program level.
Representation in University-Wide Committees
Student representation is present at every meeting of the Campus Services Advisory Board and the Occupational Health and Safety Board, ensuring students contribute to decisions affecting campus life, safety, and services.
The ÖzU Student Council (ÖzUSC)
The Özyeğin University Student Council (ÖzUSC) is an official subsidiary of the university and the primary formal channel through which students collectively engage with university governance. It represents the interests, needs, and aspirations of the entire student community. The Student Council regularly collects feedback from students, shares it with the university administration through reports and direct meetings, and formally presents student perspectives to the Quality Commission. Acting as a bridge between students and all university units, the ÖzUSC works to enrich and diversify university life through initiatives in both academic and social domains. You can reach ÖzU Directives on the Student Council here (in Turkish).
