Biography

Prof. Barış Tan is the President of Özyeğin University and a faculty member in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration. He received his undergraduate degree from Boğaziçi University's Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and his master's and doctoral degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida.

His areas of expertise include the design and control of production systems, supply chain management, and stochastic modeling. Prof. Tan has received numerous awards for his research in these fields, including the Turkish Academy of Sciences Distinguished Young Researcher Award, TÜBİTAK and NATO research grants, and best paper awards.

Between 1994 and 2024, Prof. Tan served as a faculty member at Koç University, where he held positions as Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences and Economics, and Director of the Graduate School of Business.

Prof. Tan has served as a visiting professor at Harvard University (Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences), MIT (Operations Research Center, Laboratory for Manufacturing and Productivity), University of Cambridge (Judge Business School), University College London (School of Management), and Politecnico di Milano (Laboratory for Manufacturing and Production Systems).

Prof. Tan serves on the advisory and executive boards of various universities and organizations worldwide.
