Independence. The Student Council is an independent, student-elected representative body. Elections are held every two years. Programme representatives are directly elected by students enrolled in their respective programmes through majority voting. Faculty and school representatives are subsequently elected by the programme representatives. The Student Council President, Executive Board and Supervisory Board are elected by the General Assembly for two-year terms. The Council makes its own decisions through these bodies in accordance with the Özyeğin University Student Council Directive, approved by the University Senate on 22 September 2020 (Decision No. 2020/14). The University does not appoint student representatives.
Governance input. Student Council representatives participate in university governance and contribute student perspectives to institutional decision-making. In 2025, the Council was represented on the Quality Commission by Ertuğ Demirbaş, the Student Clubs and Events Commission by Necmi Tarık Ulusoy, and the Commission on Disability by Yahya Levent. Through these commissions, the Council contributes to discussions concerning accessibility, institutional quality, student activities and campus life.
Support for students. The Council represents students' interests and supports them in academic, administrative and welfare-related matters. It collects student feedback, communicates concerns and recommendations to the University administration, and works through designated topic spokespersons responsible for areas such as transportation, dining and academic affairs. The Council also conducts student surveys and establishes working groups to address specific student needs.
Social activities. In 2025, the Council organised and supported a range of social, academic and professional development activities. Major events included SocialFest (4,000 participants), WinterFest (4,000 participants), Engineering Career Day (150 participants), and Court Simulation (100 participants).
