Alkan Kabakçıoğlu completed his undergraduate studies in Electronic Engineering and Physics at Bilkent University in 1990. He received his M.Sc. degree from the Department of Physics at Bilkent University in 1993, specializing in statistical mechanics. He subsequently conducted research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on phase transitions in magnetic and superconducting systems. After receiving his Ph.D. in 1999, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Weizmann Institute of Science and the University of Padova. From 2005 to 2026, Dr. Kabakçıoğlu served as a faculty member in the Department of Physics at Koç University. During this period, he also served as Associate Dean of the College of Sciences and contributed to various university committees and academic bodies, including the Academic Council, Core Program Committee, KUY Publications Board, and KUDEB Committee. During the same period, Dr. Kabakçıoğlu also conducted research as a long-term visiting scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Case Western Reserve University. Since 2026, he has continued his academic research at the Faculty of Engineering at Özyeğin University. His recent research interests include the structural and dynamical properties of biopolymers, modeling of gene regulatory networks, and the physics of artificial intelligence.
