Biography

Sami K. Mahmood is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Özyeğin University. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Florida in 2024 and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Finance at the National University of Singapore from 2024 to 2026. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics from New York University Abu Dhabi. His research studies banking, financial intermediation, and financial regulation, applying machine learning, natural language processing, and textual analysis to historical and contemporary financial data. His work has been presented at the American Finance Association, the Financial Management Association, the FDIC Annual Bank Research Conference, and at central banks, including the Federal Reserve Banks of New York and St. Louis. He was selected for the FMA Emerging Scholars Initiative in 2025.
