Nergis Uyan graduated from the Department of Foreign Language Education at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1995. She received her MA in Educational Administration from Bilkent University in 2005. She also completed the DTEFLA (Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults) program offered by the University of Cambridge in 1999 and the ADEM (Advanced Diploma in English Language Teaching Management) program offered by Bilkent University in 2001.

From 1995 to January 2010, she worked at Bilkent University’s School of English Language and Professional Development (İDMYO), where she held various positions, including Lecturer, Head of the Education Unit, Lecturer Development Coordinator, and member of the İDMYO Directorate. Since 2007, she has also worked as a CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) course tutor. From 2009 to 2026, she served as the Director of the School of Foreign Languages at Özyeğin University. As of the 2026–2027 academic year, she continues to serve at Özyeğin University as the Dean of Students.
