Project Description:
"Netflix knows what you want to watch next. ChatGPT understands your questions. Self-driving cars see the road. What do they all have in common? Linear Algebra.
In this internship, we will look under the hood of modern Data Science. You won't just solve equations; you will discover the mathematical engine that powers the digital world. We will move from abstract numbers to concrete tools, helping you make sense of data in ways that are used by engineers and scientists every day. This is your toolkit for the future.
Research Intern Responsibilities:
- Participate in interactive workshops to learn core Linear Algebra concepts (Matrix operations, Vectors, etc.).
- Apply these concepts using computer tools (coding/software) to analyze real datasets.
- Collaborate with peers to solve weekly challenges.
- Complete a final "Mini-Project" demonstrating a real-world application (e.g., image compression or a simple recommendation system).
Required Skills and Qualifications: No advanced math experience is required! Basic familiarity with coding is a plus, but not mandatory. We are looking for curiosity, motivation, and a willingness to look at the world through the lens of mathematics.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this month, you will:
- Understand the Matrix: Gain intuition for vectors and matrices.
- Predict the Future: Learn how to model trends using Markov Chains (the logic behind Google’s search engine).
- Find the Pattern: Master Data Fitting to see the story hidden in numbers.
