TOBB Turkey Higher Education Assembly Meeting Organized in Ankara

The annual TOBB (The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey) Higher Education Assembly Meeting was held in Ankara with the participation of Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç, President of CoHe , and Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK. Hosted by Mr. M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TOBB, the meeting took place on January 7, 2020 featuring board-of-trustees chairs and rectors from universities across Turkey. Our university was represented by our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk during the meeting.

In his opening remarks, the TOBB President highlighted the direct relationship between a country’s wealth and level of education. Emphasizing that investing in education is the best service to a country, Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu drew attention to the rapid global change propelled by developing technologies and new business models.

“In this age of information, capital shifted towards information technologies on a large extent. The key to achieve the goal of becoming one of the world’s biggest economies is to produce more technologies,” remarked Hisarcıklıoğlu.
