The American University in Cairo's International Competition with UNDP and Egypt Ministry of Environment

Dear Students, Faculty and Student Advisers,

The American University of Cairo’s Student Union would like to invite you to join its Sustainability Initiative.  Every year, the SU Real Life Team, under the Academics Committee of the Student Union, organizes an interdisciplinary competition based on different themes. This year, the theme of the competition organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Environment and United Nations Development Program is Marine Life and Sustainability.

This interdisciplinary competition aims to enhance and develop students’ interpersonal, professional and academic skills while it provides them a platform to engage with people of various cultural and professional backgrounds, igniting a collaborative environment for the betterment of society. Students’ intellectual curiosities will be inflamed by providing them with extensive training about case cracking skills as well as the magnitude of the issue presented. In addition to the cultural programs planned, competition also aims to enrich their knowledge of Egypt’s history, culture and biodiverse environment. Essentially, with this year’s competition being a global one, all students will be collectively working together and taking an initiative to #RedefineSustainability.

The Competition is scheduled to take place from Thursday April 9 to Friday April 17; where part of the competition will be in Cairo, and the other in Hurghada. Undergraduate Students will be competing in teams of four, for a grand prize of $3000; awarded to the first place team in order to inspire them to change the world. Notably, there will be other monetary and non-monetary prizes available as well for the remaining teams.
