Data Science Certificate Program Co-Run by ING Turkey and Özyeğin University Awards Certificates to its Second Class of Graduates During an Online Ceremony

The Data Science Certificate Program offered jointly by ING Turkey and Özyeğin University celebrated its second class of graduates. The second phase of the program was launched in 2018 with 18 ING students who received their certificates during an online graduation ceremony. The graduation and certificate ceremony was attended by our Rector Prof Dr. Esra Gençtürk, our Faculty of Engineering professors Associate Prof. Örsan Özener and Dr. Erinç Albey, and Seha İşmen Özgür, our Director of the Strategy and Institutional Development Office.

Inaugurated with the opening remarks of Meltem Kalender, CHRO at ING Turkey, the ceremony continued with the speeches of Mr. Alper Gökgöz, CEO at ING Turkey, and our Rector Prof.  Dr. Esra Gençtürk who addressed the fresh graduates.  

Due to the pandemic, the graduation ceremony took place online. Our Rector Prof Dr. Esra Gençtürk started her address by congratulating 18 ING students who graduated this semester from the Data Science Certificate Program. “Our program is growing stronger each day with ING, and conferring degrees to our second class is highly important to us. Looking at the value the program has created for all its constituents, we can say that the program has proven its worth. I must also add that under the extraordinary conditions the world has never experienced before, both Özyeğin University and ING have truly showcased an exemplary agility and hard work to bring this program to a successful completion. I would like to congratulate all our faculty members and all ING graduates for showing us that lifelong learning is possible, and wish them continued success in their career journeys”, remarked Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk.  The speeches were ensued with the online group project presentations by 18 ING employees who have newly graduated from the program. The presentations were followed by a certificate ceremony.

The Data Science Certificate Program is co-run by Özyeğin University and ING Turkey in 7-week modules for each group. The program’s first class of graduates, which was made up of 23 students, received their certificates in December 2019.
