Local and Rural Development Certificate Programs Are Completed

The first of the certificate programs organized by the Sustainability Platform took place between 24 - 28 August and the second between 31 August - 3 September. Academicians who are experts in their fields, representatives of producers’ organizations and non-governmental organizations also contributed to the certificate programs as instructors as well as the faculty members of our university. Various workshops and panels have been held within the scope of programs, which cover a wide spectrum of themes ranging from gender equality in rural areas to youth and employment policies, from ecological sustainability to organizational experiences.

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk came together with the participants for the online closing ceremony of the Local and Rural Development Education Certificate Programs completing its 7th year and being unique in its field. Gençtürk underlined that the University attaches importance to its mission to be a bridge between the academy and the field through our certificate programs by highlighting the increasing significance of the local and the countryside in the globalizing world. More than 400 people have benefited from the Local and Rural Development Education Certificate Program, the first of which was held in 2014 in collaboration with Özyeğin Foundation and Özyeğin University and has been continuing uninterrupted so far.
