Dr. Elamassie Wins the IEEE Turkey Dissertation Award

The winners of the IEEE Turkey Science Awards 2020 are announced. Dr. Mohammed Elamassie from the Faculty of Engineering has been honored with the IEEE Turkey Dissertation Award 2020 in recognition of his dissertation “Visible Light Communication Techniques for Future Generation of Underwater Networks”. The IEEE Turkey Dissertation Award is given to young promising scientists with an outstanding dissertation who completed their doctoral degrees in one of the fields of the IEEE at a Turkish university within the last two years. 

Dr. Elamassie received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Islamic University of Gaza in Palestine. He completed his Ph.D. degree in Electrical-Electronics Engineering at Özyeğin University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Murat Uysal.

In 2019, he was honored with the Best Paper Award during the IEEE International Black Sea Conference on Communications and Networking in Sochi, Russia. Dr. Elamassie is also a member of the Optical Society, OSA. Dr. Elamassie’s research interests include visible light communication, underwater acoustic communication, diversity techniques for fading channels, channel estimation and equalization, and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communication. Dr. Elamassie worked as an editor and a reviewer on many platforms in his field. Before coming to Turkey, Dr. Elamassie also served as an electrical engineer at the Engineering Office and Development Department, Ministry of Health, Gaza, Palestine, for four years.
