Description

The workshop is designed to be a forum for substantive discussion on research and collaboration among scholars of Turkish political economy and policymaking. We encourage submissions containing original theoretical and empirical research on:

  • All topics of Turkish political economy
  • Interdisciplinary and comparative research on the political economy of public policy
  • Institutional analysis
  • Changing political economy dynamics emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic
  • National and local public policy developments and processes
  • Comparative studies of Turkey's public policy with other countries
  • The public policy interface between the national government and international organizations
  • "Policy change" through an engagement with any of the policy process theories (i.e. Multiple Streams, Advocacy Coalitions, Punctuated Equilibrium, Institutional Analysis etc.)

Papers from all social science disciplines using various methodologies (e.g. qualitative, quantitative, mixed) are welcomed.

We invite advanced papers as well as early drafts. We encourage submissions from younger scholars, ranging from advanced graduate students to early-career faculty members, who seek detailed feedback on their work.

Format

The workshop will take place online via Zoom on November 19, 2021. It is designed as a single-day event during which we will concentrate on a selection of papers. Each paper will have 10 minutes for presentation and 20 minutes for discussion initiated by a discussant who will then open the floor to the audience. For a fruitful discussion, we expect all participants to read papers in advance.
