The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Özyeğin University Honored with First Place in “Dr. Nevin Halıcı Food and Culinary Culture Awards” Organized by COCFED

The inaugural “Dr. Nevin Halıcı Food and Culinary Culture Awards” organized for the first time this year by the Cooks and Chefs Federation of Turkey, COCFED, were presented to its winners during an awards ceremony in Beyoğlu Atlas Movie Theater on November 23, 2021. The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Özyeğin University was honored with first place in the education category in the “Dr. Nevin Halıcı Food and Culinary Culture Awards”. The COCFED members evaluated 21 universities with undergraduate gastronomy and culinary arts programs. On behalf of Özyeğin University, Associate Prof. Özge Samancı, Head of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, received the first prize award. In her speech, Associate Prof. Samancı remarked: “Dr. Nevin Halıcı is of great value to Turkish gastronomy for her pioneering work in Turkish cuisine, and her hard work and dedication to give our culinary culture the value it deserves. The fact that this award is conferred in her honor is a yet another source of pride for us. As the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Özyeğin University, we forge ahead with unwavering commitment to prepare full-fledged and visionary graduates who are much needed in the gastronomy sector through our partnership with Le Cordon Bleu since 2012 and our robust academic structure.”
