Shoeboxes of Hope - Children Should Always Smile!

After the 2011 earthquake in Van, Turkey showed a great example of solidarity and responded quickly to extend support and help to meet the needs of Van. The support helped Van hold onto life, yet there was a group of earthquake survivors that was gone unnoticed although being perhaps the most affected by the earthquake:   The children.

As the Duyarlı OzU team, we organized the Shoeboxes of Hope project for the past four years to show the children in Van that they were not alone. To date, we put 1,750 smiles on the faces of 1,750 children with our 1,750 shoeboxes of hope created by OzU students, faculty, and staff, as well as their friends and families.

This year, we are organizing our fifth Shoeboxes of Hope campaign with our motto “Children Should Smile Not Once But Always”. Just like in the previous years, we will fill shoeboxes with gifts and create our Shoeboxes of Hope to put a smile on the face of a child.

This year we’ll send our shoeboxes of hope to 4 schools in need in Düzce

Applications for Shoeboxes of Hope

Deadline for Applications: Thursday, December 7, 2017

After we receive your application, we will share with you our box preparation guide and the details of the child who will receive your box.

Box Collection Week You may turn in your boxes on Floor-1 (where the Dining Hall is located), Student Center, from December 7, 2017, 9:00 am till Friday, December 15, 2017, 16:00. Your cooperation in writing the gender and age of the child on the box will be greatly appreciated.
