Our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk Delivers Opening Address for Traditional End-of-Term Dinner of OzU Social Change Volunteers Unit

Özyeğin University endeavors to raise the awareness of volunteering across campus with its two programs implemented by its Social Change Volunteers Unit under the leadership of the Office of the Dean of Students in line with its social service and social responsibility philosophy. The Peer Advising Program and OzU Cares Program, both of which aim to make sure that each OzU student experience the taste of volunteering at least once during their studies, are being carried out with great success.

The Social Change Volunteers Unit’s Traditional End-of-Term Dinner provided a valuable opportunity to evaluate and celebrate both programs’ success. Delivering the opening address of the event, our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk remarked: “Social responsibility is one of the most important values embedded in the OzU mission. The programs which we implement to make sure that all our students carry this value with them throughout their lives are the programs that also enable our students to take part in social responsibility programs during their studies at our University in order to have a taste of volunteering, internalize it, and make it an integral part of their lives for the rest of their lives. In this way, our students transform themselves as they transform the society, and they are staunchly being prepared for the future.”

Following Prof. Dr. Gençtürk’s speech, the event ensued with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to Peer Advisors and OzU Cares Volunteers, the speech of Dr. Nilüfer Uğur Dalay, Dean of Students, the speeches of Peer Advisors and OzU Cares Volunteers, and a video screening featuring the activities carried out throughout the academic year. The meeting which was a fun blend of a dinner, a concert, and karaoke was attended by approximately 60 Peer Advisors and OzU Cares Volunteers.
