Institutional Water Footprint Report

Dear Members of OzU,

Water is a finite and strategically vital natural resource essential for life. Our world is currently grappling with a water crisis, driven by factors including population growth, industrialization, climate change, and other environmental issues. This crisis has been escalating, reaching critical levels across various regions.

In recent years, companies have launched new projects aimed at reducing water consumption and recycling water, based on national and international directives. Today, they still continue to allocate resources to ensure environmental sustainability.

Organizations should assess their influence on the water crisis and climate change, adhere to national and international climate change policies, and proactively manage their environmental impact by implementing necessary preventive measures against potential environmental risks. This approach has been widely adopted as an additional and universally recognized criterion that fosters strategic awareness and credibility among similar institutions.

Building upon the aforementioned rationale and approach, and in alignment with its environmental consciousness within the framework of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, Özyeğin University has recently published an Institutional Water Footprint Report. Compliant with the ISO 14046 Water Footprint standard, this report serves as an extension of the university's previous carbon footprint reports. Through this document, the University aims to analyze its institutional water footprint and promote environmental sustainability, as a testimony of its unwavering commitment to responsible water resource management. Özyeğin University will continue to prepare similar reports in the coming years while actively overseeing its water management practices.

You may find the report in the following link.
