Our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk Reunites with OzU Alumni Residing in the UK

Özyeğin University alumni residing in the United Kingdom reunited in London, the UK on October 20, 2023. The reunion, led by Cansu Akyar, a member of our Industrial Engineering Class of 2018, and organized with the contributions of the Alumni Office, received an extra spark of excitement with the surprise appearance of our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk. Sibel Neziroğlu Esendal, who received a Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie diploma from ÖzU in 2015 and now runs Novi Bakery London, which she founded in the UK, prepared special cupcakes in celebration of our University's 15th anniversary and the London reunion.

The UK reunion marked the second widely-attended event bringing together Özyeğin University alumni abroad. In 2019, our University was named among the world’s top 8 universities in the “Outstanding Support for Students" category at the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia 2019. During the award ceremony held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk invited our graduates residing in the UAE to join her to celebrate this distinguished award together.

The UK reunion brought together around 30 OzU graduates, each from different programs and graduating classes. The OzU alumni in attendance not only deepened their bonds by exchanging their experiences and memories but also celebrated their individual achievements, transcending national borders. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk expressed her happiness and pride in reuniting with our alumni at such a memorable event held in our University's 15th year. Meanwhile, the OzU alumni noted that our Rector’s surprise visit not only filled them with immense joy and excitement, but also enabled them to feel the OzU difference all over again.

The Özyeğin University Alumni Office opened its doors in 2014 with the overarching aim of upholding the OzU culture and difference even beyond graduation, enriching our students' lives, fostering social development, and cultivating an everlasting bond and allegiance to the University among alumni.
