Özyeğin University Students Achieve International Success in IEEExtreme Programming Competition

The 17th edition of the IEEEXtreme Programming Competition organized annually by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) took place on October 28. Boasting 426,000 members in over 150 countries, the IEEE is a non-profit international association advancing innovation and technological excellence in the field of electrical and electronics engineering. This year's competition saw the participation of 7,091 teams worldwide, with 36 teams representing Türkiye.

Participants were challenged with solving a diverse array of programming problems across multiple disciplines and varying complexities within 24 hours, with their algorithmic skills put to a rigorous test. Remarkably, three teams from Özyeğin University ranked among the top five teams from Türkiye. The team OZUE3, made up of Cengiz Emre Dedeağaç, Emir Arditi, and Ege Güngördü, claimed second place in Türkiye, and came 586th in the overall ranking. OzuLastMinute, composed of Kutay Bulun and Utku Ayaz Akkaş, secured third place in Türkiye and placed 1,107th in the overall ranking. Meanwhile, the team RadioOzU, consisting of Mehmet Altuğ Karataş, Ahmet Utku Erşahin, and Ömer Emre Bozkurt, won fourth place in Türkiye and ranked 1,115th in the overall ranking. Throughout the competition, Assistant Prof. Reyhan Aydoğan, Assistant Prof. Emre Sefer, and Prof. Dr. Hasan Sözer from the Department of Computer Science at Özyeğin University supervised the teams, while Prof. Dr. H. Fatih Uğurdağ, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, extended continuous support to the OzU teams participating in the competition.
