Applications for the 2026 TÜBA-GEBİP and TESEP Awards are Started!

Dear Faculty Members and Researchers,

 Applications for the 2026 TÜBA-Young Scientists Award Programme (TÜBA-GEBİP) and the TÜBA-Scientific Authored Works Award Programme (TÜBA-TESEP), carried out by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), have now begun. Applications may be submitted until 27 March 2026.

 Recipients of the TÜBA-GEBİP Award are granted 250,000 TL annually for three years. In addition, they receive 50,000 TL per year to support thesis-stage graduate research, as well as up to 40,000 TL in supplementary funding for national and international meetings organized as part of their internationally qualified scientific activities. Awardees are also provided with scientific mentorship from Academy members.

 For the five years following the initial three-year period, recipients are supported once a year to attend international scientific meetings and events, receiving 40,000 TL for travel to European countries and 50,000 TL for long-distance, overseas destinations.

Under the TESEP Awards, 150,000 TL is granted for authored scholarly works, while the Jury Special Award provides 100,000 TL for authored works.

Required Documents for Application

1. TÜBA-GEBİP Commitment Letter (Must be sent via postal mail with a wet signature.)

2. PDF documents to be included in the GEBİP Application Form:

• Curriculum Vitae and Publication List
• Doctoral Dissertation
• Three-Year Forward-Looking Research Project Proposal and Work Plan

3. If applicable, a “Candidate Nomination Form” completed by a university rector or a TÜBA member.

4. Reference Letters: Three reference letters regarding the candidate. (Reference letters must be written in Turkish or English, signed by the author, and uploaded to the system as PDF files.)

5. Additional Documents: A photograph, employment certificate, and—if requesting an age limit exemption—a copy of the national ID card or e-Devlet record.

Candidate Evaluation Criteria

Three main criteria are considered in the evaluation of applications:

1. Academic Background of the Candidate

2. Candidate’s Qualifications as an Independent Scientific Researcher

• Quality of internationally indexed publications, citation counts, and journal impact factors
• Consistency and diversity of projects/publications affiliated with domestic and international institutions
• Candidate’s level of contribution to the research and the international significance of the topic

3. Proposed Research Project

• Scientific originality, methodology, feasibility, and broader impact (e.g., patents, publications, training of researchers)
