Our President Prof. Barış Tan Meets with Students Achieving National Success at the Interuniversity Chess Championship

Özyeğin University President Prof. Barış Tan met with OzU students who achieved outstanding success at the Interuniversity Turkish Chess Championship during a special gathering held at the President’s Office on March 18, 2026.

Demonstrating exceptional performance, our students delivered remarkable results throughout the tournament:

• Competing in a seven-round tournament with the participation of 21 universities, our Women’s Chess Team was crowned undefeated Turkish Champion.
• In the men’s/general category, featuring 40 universities, our Men’s Chess Team also secured the title of undefeated Turkish Champion after seven rounds.
• In the individual standings, two of our male players achieved first place on their respective boards, finishing the tournament as board champions.

With these achievements, OzU students completed the tournament with two Turkish Championship titles in chess and a total of four gold medals, marking a significant milestone for the University.
