President Prof. Barış Tan Delivers Address at the 130th Anniversary Celebrations of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Strengthens Global Academic Ties
President Prof. Barış Tan’s visit to China from April 6–10, 2026 catalyzed a series of high-level engagements centered on our University’s membership in the University Alliance of the Silk Road. Marking a significant milestone for our University, this initiative is set to broaden our international collaborations and further elevate our global academic presence.
As part of the program, President Prof. Tan met with Zhang Liqun, President of Xi’an Jiaotong University, to discuss collaboration opportunities. He also participated as a speaker in the panel “Artificial Intelligence Reshaping Higher Education” at the World-Class University Presidents Forum. The forum brought together university representatives from different countries and highlighted the growing importance of international collaboration and interdisciplinary engagement in shaping the future of higher education. During his speech, Prof. Tan highlighted Özyeğin University’s vision of artificial intelligence as a unifying force that bring together research, education, and collaboration.
Prof. Tan also visited the Lenovo Industry Intelligence Research Center at Xi’an Jiaotong University, where potential avenues for collaboration were discussed. In addition, he attended the 130th anniversary celebrations of Xi’an Jiaotong University and participated in meetings focused on advancing research collaborations.
On the final day of his visit, Prof. Tan visited the Performance Analysis Center of Production and Operations Systems, where he is currently involved in ongoing joint research, and held discussions on future collaboration opportunities. He also delivered a research seminar titled “Data-Driven Energy-Aware Production Control of Production Systems” and met with graduate students. This visit also highlighted the ongoing academic collaboration between our University and the Center.
