Özyeğin University Faculty of Engineering Researcher Awarded TÜBİTAK 2232-A Fellowship

Dr. Yazgan Tuna, a faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering at Özyeğin University, has been awarded support under the TÜBİTAK 2232-A International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers Program. The program supports highly qualified researchers in conducting innovative research in Türkiye and contributing to the country’s scientific and technological capacity.

Through this award, Dr. Tuna will establish a research program investigating how nanoscale structural irregularities in microtubules, essential components of the cellular cytoskeleton, influence cellular mechanics and function. The research will combine advanced label-free optical microscopy, nanofabrication, quantitative modeling, and biological measurements to examine how these microscopic features affect the mechanical behavior of cytoskeletal filaments and the activity of proteins that interact with them. The project aims to connect molecular-scale structure with the mechanical behavior of living cells and advance our understanding of cytoskeletal function and dysfunction.
