Özyeğin University Named Türkiye’s Top Foundation University in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for Eighth Consecutive Year

Özyeğin University has once again been recognized as Türkiye’s top foundation university for the eighth consecutive year since 2019 in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. Out of 110 universities included in this year’s rankings worldwide, our University earned the distinction of being the world’s 86th most sustainable university in the overall rankings.

Launched in 2010, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings assesses universities worldwide based on their sustainability performance. The rankings evaluate higher education institutions across seven areas: Setting and Infrastructure; Energy and Climate Change; Waste; Water; Transportation; Education and Research; and Governance and Digitalization.   The 2026 edition included a record 2,016 universities from 110 countries.

Özyeğin University achieved a perfect score of 1,900 out of 1,900 in Energy and Climate Change, placing first in both the world and Türkiye in this category. Only nine universities worldwide achieved a perfect score in this area.

In the newly introduced Governance and Digitalization category, Özyeğin University also received a perfect score of 1,100 out of 1,100, ranking first in both the world and Türkiye. Only 15 universities worldwide achieved a perfect score in this new category.

Özyeğin University also ranked 1st among foundation universities in the Waste category, further underscoring its comprehensive approach to sustainability.

With a total score of 8,762.5 points, Özyeğin University ranked 86th worldwide in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, maintaining its strong standing among universities around the world for its commitment to sustainability.
