Özyeğin Ranks First in the Ranking of Turkish Universities Founded After 2000!
Our university ranked first in the Ranking of Turkish Universities Founded After 2000 and ranked eighth in the General Ranking of Foundation Universities prepared by the URAP Research Laboratory.
The University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Research Laboratory at the METU Graduate School of Informatics has been ranking Turkish universities based on their academic performance since 2009. In the latest report of the URAP Research Laboratory, Özyeğin University ranked first among Turkish universities founded after 2000 and ranked eighth among foundation universities.
The URAP’s ranking is based on 9 performance indicators which aim to measure academic productivity including the number of articles, the number of articles per faculty, the number of citations, the number of citations per faculty member, the total number of scientific publications, the total number of scientific publications per faculty, the number of PhD students, the percentage of Ph.D. students, and the number of students per faculty. The study ranks the Turkish university based on these 9 performance indicators under 9 different sub-categories:
Universities Founded Before 2000,
Universities Founded After 2000,
Universities Having Medical Schools,
Universities Not Having Medical Schools,
State Universities,
Foundation Universities,
Universities Founded After 2000 Having PhD Students,
Universities Founded After 2000 Not Having PhD Students, and
All Universities.
Accordingly, 72 universities founded before 2000, 62 universities founded after 2000, 95 state universities, 39 foundation universities, as well as universities with or without medical schools were ranked among themselves in their respective categories based on their academic performance.
The METU, Hacettepe University and Istanbul University ranked in the top 3 among state universities, while Bilkent, Sabancı and Koç were placed in the top three among foundation universities.
Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk, Rector of Özyeğin University, expressed that she is thrilled to see that Özyeğin University has been ranking among the top foundation universities in Turkey since the beginning of the rankings, which are prepared diligently by the METU, one of the most prestigious and long-standing universities in Turkey.
In evaluating the position of Özyeğin University in the URAP ranking, Prof. Gencturk pointed out that she is pleased with the University’s performance despite the fact that Özyeğin University is still a young university with only 7 years of history. “The fact that we have ranked in the first place among universities founded after 2000 in the URAP ranking is a powerful testimony of the importance we attach to research. Also, our score of scientific publications and citations has gradually increased over the years, which is an attestation of the reputation and research impact of not only our researchers but also of Özyeğin University and the sources that feature our publications.” said Prof. Gencturk.
