Dr. Alpkan Birelma is graduated from Istanbul Erkek High School in 2001. He obtained his B.S. from Bogazici University, Department of Political Science in 2005, his M.A. from the Ataturk Institute for Modern Turkish History in Bogazici University, and his Ph.D. from the same institute in 2016. He taught modern Turkish history in Bogazici University and worked as a researcher in Bogazici University Social Policy Forum. His areas of interest are sociology of work, social policy, social movements, labor movement and Islamism. He has a book in Turkish from Iletisim Yayinlari with the title, Struggle for Bread and Dignity: Ethnography of Three Worker Mobilizations in Contemporary Turkey.
