Biography

Tekin Dereli is one of first graduates of Ankara Science High School. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics at the Middle East Technical University (METU). He held long term research positions at Yale University and Brandeis University in the USA, Institute of Theoretical Physics,University of Vienna, Austria and the Physics Department, Lancaster University,UK. Tekin Dereli was Professor of Physics at METU and Ankara University where he offered courses at all levels and supervised many Ph.D students. He was also an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellow at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Karlsruhe University,Germany and Associate Member of ICTP, Trieste,Italy. Tekin Dereli worked as Professor of Physics at Koç University between 2001-2021 where currently he is Emeritus Professor. He received the 1996 TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) Science Prize, the 1993 Prof.Dr.Mustafa Parlar Foundation Science Prize and the 1989 Sedat Simavi Foundation Science Prize among others. Tekin Dereli is a life long member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) since 1994. He published more than 200 scientific papers on quantum mechanics and relativistic theories of gravitation.

Quantum mechanics. Relativistic theories of gravity and supergravity. Topology and differential geometry of space-time. Quantized gauge field theories. Standard theory of fundamental fields and elementary particles.
