Energy Law and Regulation
The objective of this course is to understand legal framework of regulations related to various sectors of energy industry. Besides, regulation of energy industry, transformation of energy regulation via deregulation process, systematic of existing regulations, functioning dynamics of related markets, and interrelation with legal concepts and institutions is also covered. At the end of the semester, students will be expected to have a theoretical perspective on the relationship between law and energy industry in general and status, effects and transformation of norms and legal institutions within the process of industry. By doing this, students will be able to benefit from theoretical and conceptual frameworks during practice in energy law, besides learning principles of practice in the energy industry.
The syllabus of course will cover following issues; concept of energy, energy industry and sub sectors, deregulation process, fundamental legal bases for regulation of industry, legal economic and technical concepts utilized by energy regulation, development of electricity, natural gas and petroleum -downstream- industries and their transformation via deregulation process, concept of renewable energy sources, the regulation and implementation regime of renewable energy sources and nuclear energy in Turkish law.
