Measures of Interdisciplinary Research Success

Özyeğin University is a research-oriented university that aims to be a pioneer in the national and international arena with the fundamental and applied research it conducts. The research conducted is handled holistically by bringing together an interdisciplinary approach and a focus on sustainability.

The most important indicator of this is that interdisciplinary research has become a part of the institutional culture by being included in the evaluation processes both at the University and the academics’ levels.

University Dimension

Özyeğin University's 2018-2023 Strategic Plan is organized within the scope of 7 main objectives. One of these objectives is "To strengthen our position as a premier research university". The university's research performance has been closely monitored in accordance with four targets of this objective, including components such as scientific publications, research projects, research impact, scientific awards, and the interdisciplinarity dimension. Here, cooperation with industry and the industrial revenues in research have also been particularly important.

Özyeğin University's 2024-2029 Strategic Plan continues to monitor the interdisciplinarity dimension more specifically.

Academics Dimension

The Academic CV application has been implemented within the scope of the University's Strategic Plan objectives so academics can regularly and directly follow their activities, which will be considered in periodic evaluation and promotion processes. Academics have been provided with the opportunity to regularly and easily follow their academic activities on an annual basis, see the promotion criteria related to their departments, and track these criteria and their activities in other areas within the scope of the CV report. This system provides the University Promotion Committee with the information it needs in the promotion and evaluation processes through a single report.

Within the scope of Academic CV application, Performance on Basic Criteria is discussed in detail under the titles of “Research”, “Teaching”, “Service” and “Social Impact”. Within the scope of the “T2d. Application (Contribution to the ÖzÜ Approach)” table, “Number of Interdisciplinary Publications”, “Number of Interdisciplinary Projects” and “Number of Industrial Projects” are reported within the scope of Academic CV from the 2016-2017 Academic Year to the current 2024-2025 Academic Year, covering the last eight academic years, and are monitored, evaluated, and used for the sustainable development of the University among the success criteria.
