How We Measure
Methodology & Infrastructure

ÖzÜ's interdisciplinary research monitoring integrates internationally recognised bibliometric platforms with internal analytics systems, ensuring that interdisciplinarity is measured continuously at publication, project, and researcher level.

Methodology & Infrastructure
Scopus & SciVal

Publications spanning two or more distinct ASJC subject area clusters are classified as interdisciplinary. Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) normalises for field, year, and document type.

Researcher-Level Review

Each academic's output is assessed for disciplinary breadth and citation profile, identifying emerging interdisciplinary clusters and informing targeted support for cross-faculty research.

Project Monitoring (TTO)

All externally funded projects are classified by the TTO as interdisciplinary or single-discipline, enabling year-on-year tracking of funded research diversity alongside publication data.

Institutional Decision-Making

Interdisciplinary metrics feed directly into strategic planning, faculty performance reviews, benchmarking, and priority-area identification — as a governance tool, not only a reporting metric.

Full Pipeline Integration

Monitoring covers the full research pipeline — from funded project approval to published output — ensuring interdisciplinary capacity is tracked before it appears in bibliometric databases.

Strategic Alignment

Priority areas including AI for sustainable development, disaster resilience, sustainable agriculture, and SDG-aligned research reflect the institutional interdisciplinary research agenda, updated annually.
