Private Law PhD Program

The fact that undergraduate education is not enough during this period of information age, students prefer postgraduate education in order to improve themselves and to keep up with the speed of technology and knowledge. In the face of developments and continuous innovations new problems and needs for solutions emerge in the field of law. It is clear that PhD education provides students with expertise in the field they want to work after graduation and makes them more knowledgeable so that they can insightfully think about legal problems and produce new solutions. Private Law PhD Program aims to identify legal problems and to provide students the ability to bring solutions in view of the developments in the world. For this reason, it is planned to offer a wide range of course options including civil law, corporate law, commercial arbitration, intellectual property law, mining law, international transportation, and international trade law in order to give students new perspectives.

Purpose

The “Private Law PhD Program”, which is open to graduates of law school together with lawyers and those who want to continue their academic life, aims to both teach the theory of law and provide practical information for candidates who want to be successful in practice. The focus of the program is to provide students with advanced legal education. For this purpose, the program aims to train well-equipped jurists who have the competence to conduct research on legal issues in the field of private law using their own judgments, comparing with foreign law, interpreting legal regulations in a manner appropriate. Students are expected to take their courses in the first two semesters and complete their thesis defending it before a jury starting from the second year.
