Our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk Attends the 9th Anniversary of Alp Alkaş Retail & Real Estate Center and the Opening Ceremony for the New Term

The 9th anniversary of the Alp Alkaş Retail & Real Estate Center, the first academic research and education center focused on retail and real-estate in Türkiye, and the opening ceremony for the new term took place with Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk, Özyeğin University Rector, Avi Alkaş, founder of the center, and Hüsnü Özyeğin, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Özyeğin University, in attendance.

The opening address of the event was delivered by our Rector Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk. “Alp Alkaş Retail & Real Estate Center is an important manifestation of Özyeğin University’s mission as an entrepreneurial research university and a solid example of its sector-integrated, education, research, and knowledge transfer efforts. We feel extremely pleased and proud to celebrate the 9th certification term of our Alp Alkaş Retail & Real Estate Center. As a culmination of the strong interaction between its participants and educators, today the Center stands out with its broad range of activities that entail both developing solutions to the problems faced by the sector in light of the scientific findings obtained by the academicians working in this field, and performing research propelled with the opportunities and threats awaiting the sector. The continuous, unwavering attention the certificate programs have garnered to date from all our stakeholders in the sector is the most important testimony of the Center’s valuable contributions to the field,” Prof. Dr. Esra Gençtürk remarked.

Launched in 2013 by Özyeğin University and the Alkaş family in loving memory of Alp Alkaş, who passed away at a very early age while rising in his career, the Center keeps the loving memory of Alp Alkaş alive with its successful programs. With its three different certificate programs offered for the development of the sector, the Center aims to prepare the future leaders of the food & beverage, retail, and real-estate sectors, while also supporting Turkish institutions and brands in writing their own international success stories. At the same time, the center also organizes a broad array of international and national conferences and workshops, and serves as a regional and global center for academic development.
