TÜBİTAK 1001 DATA SCIENCE and DIGITAL ETNOGRAPHY SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

A full-time graduate student (Master’s degree) will be recruited to work for 6 months (25 September 2023 - 24 March 2024) in the research titled "Digital Public Diplomacy of Armed Organizations - Syria and Iraq Examples" funded by the TÜBİTAK ARDEB 1001 Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program. The project was carried out by Özyeğin University International Relations member Assoc. Dr. Akın Ünver and creates a new advanced research laboratory that combines data science, programming social sciences, database administration and digital ethnography methods. A graduate student scholarship has been announced for the project laboratory to support the 'data science' and 'digital ethnography' research groups.

 

Required Competencies

- Knowledge of ethnographic research methods in digital and/or physical cases and environments; preferably have taken part in this type of project before or have taken an assistant job.

- In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, forums and other online communities.

- Ability to work with extensive data sets in Excel, R and Python and to analyze these data effectively; preferably have worked in detail on a research project with at least one of these software.

- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize ongoing simultaneous tasks.

- Advanced English, and intermediate-advanced Arabic and/or Persian reading skills
