What is the Global Exchange Program

Global Exchange is a mobility program that enables students to study for a semester of their degree at a partner institution of Özyeğin University, incurring no tuition fees at the host institution. The program mainly consists of study mobility in non-European countries.

The International Mobility Scholarship Program (IMSP) is available for this application period. Interested students can review the relevant information provided below.

List of Partner Institutions

The list of partner institutions can be reviewed HERE. The list includes all important information about:

  • which institutions you can select for your Global Exchange program application
  • the maximum student quota of each partner institution
  • The minimum language requirements of each partner institution
  • their specific requirements of the institution, with important notes and information
  • the up-to-date information regarding partner institutions, including general details, academic calendars, language requirements, and monthly living expenses, etc.

All students must review the provided information before submitting their application to ensure a smoother placement process and exchange semester.

 

Eligibility Criteria to Apply

  • To have completed at least 24 ECTS credits in either the undergraduate or graduate program,
  • To have a minimum of 24 ECTS credits remaining for graduation from their primary majors in case of undergraduate students,
  • Minimum 2.80/4.00 CGPA for undergraduate students, and 3.00/4.00 for graduate students (for double major and minor students, the CGPA in their transcripts will be applicable),
  • For graduate students, to have submitted the letter of approval obtained from the academic/thesis advisor which confirms the student’s participation in Global Exchange,
  • To satisfy other application requirements, if any, for the respective program for which the student applies
  • Double-major students should select one of their programs when applying.
  • Students can apply for exchange programs for one semester, unless partner institutions require otherwise. Students must indicate their preferred academic term when they apply.
  • English Preparatory Program students, Scientific Preparation Program students, special/free-mover students, students on leave of absence, and unregistered students are not eligible to apply.

 

How to Apply

Applications are submitted online via the KION application system. Students must log in to the system using their OzU username and password to submit their application.

First-time users must click the “Register & Apply” button to create an account. Students must use their OzU username and password to log in to the KION system.

Once students log into the KION application system, they must fill out the application form and  upload a Statement of Purpose document, where the motivation for applying to the Global Exchange program is explained. Students must click the “ complete” button in the online application form in order to submit their applications for evaluation.

 

How to select partner institutions

Partner institution preferences for the Global Exchange will be made through the Global Exchange application form at KION. Students may select up to three (3) institutions from the partner institutions’ list and must submit the online application form by November 28th, 2025, 13:00.

 

Evaluation & Ranking

  • After the application deadline, eligible students will be invited for interviews with the jury. The jury consists of the Faculty Program Coordinator, the Dean of Students and the International Exchange & Partnership Programs Office (IEPP) members for undergraduate students; and the thesis advisor, or -if not assigned yet- the academic advisor and IEPP members for graduate students, respectively.
  • The student’s academic standing, language proficiency, motivation to participate in the program, academic preparedness to study in a foreign destination, and ability to represent the University abroad as well as the academic and personal value the receiving institution will add to the student, to what degree the student will be able to demonstrate their experience at the partner university upon their return, and the student’s previous international experiences are considered.
  • The student is awarded a score on a 100 scale at the end of the interview.
  • Students who receive a total score of 59 points or lower after the evaluation will not be placed at partner institutions.
  • For students who have previously participated in Global Exchange, 5 points will be deducted from their interview score in subsequent application evaluations.
  • All applicants will be ranked based on their interview scores and will be placed at the partner institutions of their choice, subject to the availability of quotas.

 

The interviews are planned to be organized between 8-12 December 2025. Each student will receive an email invitation to attend the interview. The interview might be in-person or online. Due to the tight schedule and the upcoming deadlines of the partner institutions, requests for rescheduling will not be accepted.

 

Placement

  • IEPP will announce the placement results by email. Students who have been placed will be asked to confirm their placements via the commitment form provided by IEPP.
  • The commitment form must be submitted through the KION system by Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025, at the latest. Otherwise, students will not be placed at partner institutions, and their applications will be cancelled automatically.
  • Placed students must satisfy the minimum application requirements of partner institutions before the date of nomination determined by partner institutions. Otherwise, partner institutions may reject students’ applications.
  • The final decision regarding the admission of a nominated student is made by the partner institution.

 

Eligibility criteria to be nominated to the partner institution after placement

  • Attending the interview and being evaluated and placed at a partner institution
  • Fulfilling the language requirement provided in the info sheets included in the List of Partner Institutions (i.e., TOEFL/PTE with the required score) until February 20th, 2026.
    • All placed students must meet both the language requirements set by the Student Services, as outlined in the official proficiency exam list, and those specified by the host institution indicated in the info sheet. Detailed instructions are below:
      • Language score or document qualifications that are not included in Student Services requirements are considered ineligible (i.e., TOEFL Home Edition, IELTS, etc.)  for Özyeğin University.
      • Language score or document qualifications that are included in Student Services requirements but not included as the placed institution’s requirement are considered ineligible.
      • Students who are placed to partner institutions who do not have any specific language requirements, must still fulfil one of the exams listed on the Student Services webpage.

  • Partner institutions require good academic standing for student evaluation. It is highly recommended to maintain a CGPA above the criteria mentioned in the "Eligibility Criteria to Apply" section and the List of Partner Institutions.
  • In case of being subject to disciplinary action of suspension in the semester in which the student goes on exchange, Global Exchange participation will be automatically cancelled.
  • All the other requirements of the partner institution must be fulfilled for nomination and admission purposes.
  • IEPP will make an eligibility check for each student during the nomination period. Students who do not meet the requirements will not be nominated.

Students are also expected to acknowledge the following information: Bachelor’s, master’s with thesis, and doctoral degree students can benefit from Global Exchange (including Swiss European Mobility Program - SEMP) for a maximum of two semesters and a summer school period, while non-thesis master’s degree students may benefit from Global Exchange (including SEMP) for a maximum of a semester.

 

NEW - International Mobility Scholarship Program (IMSP)

Overview

The International Mobility Scholarship Program (IMSP) is an OzU scholarship designed for students participating in international mobility. The IMSP supports outstanding undergraduate students seeking to gain intercultural and academic experience through international programs, to cover living expenses and travel costs for the duration of the international mobility partially

The scholarship will be offered for one semester.

The availability of this scholarship depends on funding, the number of applicants, and the quality of the submitted applications.

 

Scholarship Types

Students can benefit from IMSP under the 'Zeynep Alp Köseoğlu Scholarship Program' and/or the 'NEXENT Bank Scholarship Program'

  1. Zeynep Alp Köseoğlu Scholarship Program
  • Main Eligibility Criteria: To be a female undergraduate student with a minimum GPA of 2.80/4.00 or higher who is placed in one of the host institutions within the Global Exchange program.
  • Scope of Support: The amount of scholarship will be calculated based on the estimated average living expenses of the host country/institution. Up to USD 5,000 may be allocated to cover the duration of the mobility in two instalments.

 

  1. NEXENT Scholarship Program
  • Main Eligibility Criteria: To be an undergraduate student with a minimum CGPA of 2.80/4.00 or higher who is placed in one of the partner institutions within the Global Exchange program.
  • Scope of Support: The amount of scholarship will be calculated based of the estimated average living expenses of the host institution. Up to USD 3,500 might be allocated to cover the duration of the activity in two instalments.

 

Application

To apply, it is required to submit the IMSP Application Form by November 28, 2025, 13:00 (extended) to be evaluated. Please note that late applications will not be considered.

The Global Exchange Program and the IMSP each have separate application forms. Please ensure that you complete both forms if you wish to apply for the Global Exchange and be considered for the scholarship.

Students are expected to explain their motivation for application to IMSP, its alignment with their long-term & short-term goals, and include information about their background and financial status.

 

Application Requirements, Application Form, and Required Documents

  • Application Requirements:
    • A minimum CGPA of 2.80/4.00 at the time of scholarship application.
    • Active enrollment in an OzU undergraduate program
    • Application for mobility within the Global Exchange program and fulfillment of required criteria
    • Not having previously benefited from the IMSP (including GEPS before)
    • Maintaining a good disciplinary record
    • Non-Turkish citizens are welcome to apply for the scholarship to participate in an exchange outside of their home country . (International students/dual citizens intending to participate in the Global Exchange semester in their home countries are not eligible for the IMSP.)
    • Female candidates may be prioritized for the Zeynep Alp Köseoğlu Scholarship.
    • Students who withdraw from the Global Exchange program after the official cancellation deadline in previous years will receive a 5-point deduction from their score.
    • Candidates who were previously approved for a scholarship but cancelled their mobility without a valid/force majeure reason will receive a 5-point deduction.

 

  • Required Information/Documents:
    • Graduation audit report (can be obtained from SIS)
    • Scholarship status (if applicable)
    • Documents detailing the financial situation (if applicable)
      (e.g., documentation of financial aid such as need-based allowance, orphan/death pension, AFAD, KYK, municipal scholarships; documents showing family income, etc.)
    • The selection committee may request additional documents during the interview process if necessary.

 

Evaluation and Result Announcement

  • Initial Screening & Interview: Applications will be initially reviewed for eligibility and completeness. Eligible candidates will be invited to the Global Exchange interview and their application will be evaluated for the scholarship simultaneously during the Global Exchange interview.
  • Interview scoring is out of 100 points. Applicants scoring 59 or below will not be awarded a scholarship.
  • Students who complete the Global Exchange Application Form but fail to submit the IMSP application form, or those who submit the IMSP application form but do not complete the Global Exchange Application Form before November 28th, 2025 13:00 will not be considered eligible for the scholarship.

 

Evaluation by Selection Commission: Eligible applications will be evaluated based on their interview score.

  • If multiple applicants receive the same score:
    • Priority is given to the student with the earlier graduation date.
    • If graduation dates are the same, the student with the higher CGPA is prioritized.
    • If CGPAs are also equal, priority goes to the student placed to a country with higher living expenses.

  • Deadline for Eligibility: To confirm participation in the Global Exchange program and secure the IMSP application, placed students must submit the required language proficiency document for the placed university by February 20th, 2025 (see the section “Eligibility criteria to be nominated to the partner institution after placement).

 

  • Acceptance and Scholarship Award: All applicants will be notified of their IMSP application status via email, but securing the IMSP eligibility is upon submission of the required language proficiency document for Global Exchange placement. IMSP recipients will be invited to sign a scholarship agreement.

 

Other Scholarship Alternatives

Alternative external scholarship providers may exist. However, the availability of these external funds is not guaranteed and depends on the discretion of the partner institution or fund provider. More information can be found on our website for Government Scholarship / External Funds.
